Tell Your Story

I am sick. I’m not crazy. It’s not in my head. I’m not causing this myself. And I’m sure as hell not making this up. I’m learning about myself every day. We all need a little boost from time to time, lend a hand. You never know how much it could mean. Maybe this is why I started this blog. I am a mother of two beautiful, amazing kids. My daughter six years old and my son, four years old. I’ve been struggling with chronic illnesses all my life. At the age of six years old I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. During that time doctors didn’t know what this disease was. What caused it and if there were any cures. Fourteen years old I was sick for months at home, my health was declining everyday and the medication prescribed was non effective. I was finally admitted to Newton Wellesley Hospital. They tried to treat me there but I learned, and in my gut instinct knew, nothing was treating the diseased part I was suffering. To then I was told it would take my life. The Surgeon said that my entire large intestines was so inflamed that it was going to burst and needed to be removed very urgently. He introduced a new surgery, as I would be the “guinea pig.” I had to be transferred to Mass General Hospital because that’s where the surgeon had done his practice and the only hospital that can perform the high risk surgery. The operation took seven hours long and a year recovery. I had to regain my strength to learn how to walk again as part as my recovery, with many other on-going downfalls. I’ve always lived on a daily basis with challenges, planning out my day hour by hour. At the age of 29 I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I have dealt with a great share of anxiety, depression, and trauma. Throughout all my illnesses I was blessed with my children and fulfilled twelve years working as a certified nurse assistant. I am now focusing on my health, family, and to interact with the people of chronic community. ❤️
